Learning outcomes

  • Define quality signals that match how your warehouse actually lands data.
  • Compose a monitoring board with thresholds stakeholders can defend.
  • Document a short incident narrative when a tile turns amber.
  • Run a peer critique using the Quality Lab failure injects.

Who it fits

You already write SQL or maintain ELT jobs. You are not looking for a BI tool tour — you want a practice for reading integration health through visualization and analytics.

Modules

1. Pipeline cartography

Map sources, landing zones, and handoffs before choosing any chart. Identify where silence is more dangerous than noise.

2. Freshness contracts

Translate SLA language into tiles, annotations, and escalation copy that survive weekend on-call.

3. Completeness & null spikes

Design views that separate expected sparsity from broken joins, with examples from retail and logistics feeds.

4. Schema drift desks

Build lightweight change detection visuals and decide which drifts deserve pages versus weekly notes.

5. Quality Lab rehearsal

Respond to injected failures as a team, then rewrite the board based on what confused people mid-drill.

6. Stakeholder readout

Present the final board to a mock leadership panel and capture follow-up metrics for your playbook.

Learner notes

The freshness contracts module alone paid for the seat. We stopped arguing about timezone offsets in Monday reviews.

Useful, though week four’s schema drills assume you can change staging tables quickly. Our change window is slower, so I adapted the homework.

FAQ

Do you teach a specific BI product?

No. Exercises stay tool-agnostic so the methods transfer. We show examples in common chart builders, but you complete work in whatever your company already licenses.

What is a real limitation of this course?

We do not provision cloud warehouses or write production orchestration for you. If your pipeline access is locked behind a long security review, you will practice on sanitized extracts we provide — which is still valuable, but less specific to your quirks.

Is payment handled on this website?

No. Pricing is informational. Enrollment and invoicing happen after you contact the desk.
